still alive

I have not already abandoned this blog! It shall not fall by the wayside and die among various other dead blogs I have created with 5 or fewer posts. I had such a rich, lovely blog when I met Matt. So much drama, so many deep self-important thoughts, lol. Silly. Lesson of the week: Get thee over thyself.

The class ended today- I am..behind. But I will work on more this weekend.
My mother in law is wanting handmade thank you cards, I think I'll work on some tomorrow. I don't do that may cards, but they are a fast project.

some of the projects

Holy crap two days in a row I have posted. I may actually be an adult.
Don't tell my kids.

There are also daily assignments. I have done about 6.
Here are the first three:

This is a cut-out card so the star is actually on the inside. we had to follow the design the instructor gave us, so it's not somthinf I feel is my own design, I just chose the paper and added the horizontal line and swoosh at the bottom. I'm kind of into the swooshes right now.

An altered candle. I used old paper scraps I had, I'm not a big candle person.

A decorated journal- again with the swooshes, I know. Not a very good picture. I realize that I am painfully embellishment challenged. I tend to stick with flat items and I still lean towards an all paper route in my designs. I have every embellishment alive, but when I create, I like stuff flat. Like my sense of humor.

28 days behind

I signed up for an online class to get me back in th swing of scrapbooking and I managed to stay current for a solid week. That was 3 weeks ago, the class ends in 4 days. Oops.

BUT I have printed up the lessons and WILL get them done.
Probably.
Part of the class requires me to take a picture every day about ordinary things in my very exciting world. The teacher chooses the topics. I take the pictures. I have managed to catch up on this, so here are my first 24 photo assignments. Years from now my ancestors will look back at this project and snooze.

Day1-- my pantry. Please. I'm a Mormon. We do year supplies. We store water. This is PART of my pantry. The part with nutritious top ramen and generic mac and cheese. The part with a huge basket of air fresheners and deoderant. The kids may die of malnutrition but at least it won't smell bad here.

Day 2--My mailbox. Just looking at this makes me feel cold. Snow sucks.

Day 3--My fridge. Well, my old fridge. We got a new one two days after I took this photograph. A nice side by side with built in ice and water dispensers. Black. And it didn't fit in the space. Matt had to cut tile down and ended up cutting his hand and getting 8 stitches. This fridge now lives in the dining room, awaiting relocation to the garage. Thrilling.

Day 4--something I use daily--I love this device nearly as much as I love air and water.....

day 5-someplace I go every week-- Church. Right across the street from the house to the right. I LOVE my ward. I never want to leave this place until Matt and I are old and move to a flat in downtown Chicago.

day6-makes me smile-- Jane got brave and let me pull her tooth. She was so happy and kept saying "I am so proud of myself!" The other tooth left the next weekend and now she makes silly faces with no front teeth.

Day8--my favorite drink-- I accidentally deleted day 7 and this blog format is a pain in the butt so I will add it later. I'm bored brainlesss as it is.
So yeah-- Matt calls this liquid crack. I call it happiness.

Day 9- family shoes. I have 9 people in my family, no way am I getting all those shoes ready for one big shoe family portrait so I just took a picture of Roe's Chuck Taylors. We are a Chuck family.
Matt, myself, Katie and Roe all have "real" Chucks and Em and Jane have some fakies.

Day 11-street sign-- I have not done day 10- Here is the sign at the corner of where we live.

day 12--family photos-- Sunnie took these at Murray Park in November, they turned out amazing. I hope she keeps it up and one day has her own photography business. The Romy pic is always crooked because she won't leave it alone.

day 13-- the outside of my home-- the big yellow barn house. It has room to grow and we sure need it. I cannot believe I found this house, it's ugly and dying, but Matt and I are resorceful and have very similar tastes so we are remodeling every square inch. So far it has 5 bedrooms and 3 baths, this time next year we hope it has 7 bedrooms and 5 baths, as well as a library and a finished pantry. Next on the list: Master Suite.

Day 14-- a yummy treat--Not my favorite treat but it was handy. Part of Zane's science project. I'm going to be picking gum out of the carpet for the next 3 months, I just know it.

Day 15- my comfy_____-- bed. Not comfy with all that crap on it, but Matt and I blew a mint on this bed. He wanted to get rid of his gross old bed, so he left it in Chicago for the sad lonely guy to have. We spent a weekend making sure we bought the bed of our dreams and picked up this California King for just under 3 grand. I tell you, it was worth every penny.

day 16- a pile of whatever-- okay-- a pile of pajamas. Parker and Zane both got about 4 pair each this Christmas and Zane refuses to wear them, so Parker lives in plaid flannel PJ bottoms. Mmatt got about 3 pair as well and we threw out his old ones. Piles of PJ's are a common thing at our house.
This is so fascinating, huh?

day 17-something colorful-- One random Saturday Romy asked if we could have a pinata. Eh, why not? So Matt and I went running errands and picked up a pinata for no reason and came home and declared it "Pinata Day." The little ones thought it was great the older ones, thought we were distrubed. The next time you have nothing to do on a Saturday- try surprising your kids and declare it "Pinata Day"-- they'll love it.

day 19- my scrap area right now- Good lord what a mess. I have an old door as a table top and a huge space now but I create best in chaos. It's a wonder I am not creating every day with this nightmare.

day 20- my living room-- Um..okay..here it is. there is the fake vintage radio I got Matt for Christmas that he has wanted for years and years. Also various "we read, we're smart" books for the visiting teachers to see.

Day 21- a flower or plant-- Matt's Bamboo from Chicago. He bought this at a little shop on the way to get me from the airport when he also surprised me with a dozen roses and my engagement ring. He got down on one knee all over again right there in the airport and proposed to me a second time. The women sitting next to me on the flight up were cheering and it was cute-- but I am supposed to be talking about the bamboo here. So...here it is...Chicago Bamboo. Woo hoo.

day 22- laundry-- my sister in law and hired help has not been here in 2 weeks. I may have to consider folding my own underwear. Save me.

day 23-- something I display-- I got this at TiaPanTrading. A plaque that reads something inspirational about being an artist but I am too tired to go to the living room and note the phrase here. I got it thinking of Katie and how nice it is to have another artsy type in the house.

day 24- the view from the front door-- to the left-- the big ugly tree we will probably remove in the spring, or at least trim it down a ton. The Bradys live across the street, their daughter just left for the MTC for her mission. We are surrounded by wonderful neighbors. I love it here, I really do.

So- that's all I can stand.
There are craft projects but I am not posting them now. Hopefully I can keep up and post ONE photo assignment a day and not kill myself with these giant blog postings.
Matt wants the computer- Family movie night- Pirates of the Carribean 2 through Clearplay.
Clearplay.
I find the fact that he uses Clearplay hilarious.
The kids can watch family Guy and the Simpsons, but we Clearplay Pirates.
Welcome to Utah.
